The Accidental Prime Minister


Just as the first poster was released on social media, the hashtag #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister was trending on Twitter in no time. While the senior actor Anupam Kher released the poster on June 7th at 8:30 AM, the Indian Twitterati were extremely excited to support, discuss and poke fun.

 

The Accidental Prime Minister is actually a biopic of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and is based on the book “The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making & Unmaking Of Manmohan Singh” by Sanjay Bohra. Sanjay Bohra was the media advisor of Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2008 and wrote the book and published it in 2014.

 

The poster shared by Mr. Anupam Kher was captioned as ““Looking forward to playing the role of Ex-PM #ManmohanSinghJi. #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister #Challenging#FamousBlueTurban”. Mr. Kher will be seen in the movie portraying the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

 

The release of the poster sparked conversations among the various Twitter users from and very soon #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister was trending.

A few came forward poking fun at the movie saying that the bygone era of the silent movies has returned

Others decided that this would be a great opportunity to launch a poll between the former and the present Present Prime Minister.

 

Many wanted to know who would play the roles of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

 

Several others were annoyed at the title given to the movie and felt that it was not appropriate.

Many came forward to support Anupam Kher ji and wished him all the best with the role and seemed to be excited about the movie

A few took it upon themselves to initiate the memes.

 

The book by Sanjay Bohra has managed to spark quite a few controversies at the time of its publishing. All the controversies and allegations saying that Bohra had used high profile and position to degrade the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were brushed off by the writer.

The movie on the other has initiated discussions all over India just when the poster was released. So many in fact that the hashtag “The Accidental Prime Minister” was trending in no time at all!

 

The movie directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and produced by Sunil Bohra is expected to hit the screens by 2018. At this rate of popularity that the movie has gained in just a hours, all that is left to do is wait for the fate of this film to be decided.
