His father is a farmer. He wore Navy whites. And on May 23, 2026, Gurindervir Singh became the fastest man India has ever produced โ€” not once, but in a jaw-dropping back-to-back record battle that had the entire country on its feet.

โšก The Record That Changed 3 Times in ONE Day

If you blinked, you missed it. At the 29th National Federation Cup Athletics Championships in Ranchi, the men’s 100m national record was broken three times in less than 24 hours. A 25-year-old Petty Officer from Punjab who trains under the Indian Navy and Reliance Foundation had the last laugh.

On Friday, Gurindervir set the national record at 10.17 seconds in his semifinal heat. Just minutes later, 22-year-old Odisha speedster Animesh Kujur hit back with 10.15 seconds, snatching the record from his hands. The rivalry was electric.

On Saturday, Gurindervir answered in the most emphatic way possible โ€” 10.09 seconds. A new national record. The first Indian man ever to break the 10.10-second barrier. History, written in the blink of an eye.

After crossing the finish line, he held up a handwritten sign: “Task is not finished yet. Wait, I am still standing.” ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŒพ From a Farmer’s Son to India’s Fastest โ€” The Untold Story

This isn’t just a sports story. It’s a story about grit, illness, and a comeback that defied the odds.

Born in Patiala, Punjab, Gurindervir’s father Kamaljeet was a volleyball player who dreamed of his son following in his footsteps. But by age 12, the track had already claimed Gurindervir’s heart.

Then came 2022 โ€” a devastating health crisis. A digestive illness weakened the mucous lining of his stomach, leaving him unable to absorb nutrition properly. He lost nearly an entire season. 2023 was spent in painful recovery.

In 2024, he returned with a vengeance โ€” winning both the Federation Cup and the Inter-State Championship. He then joined the elite Reliance Foundation High Performance Centre under coach James Hiller.

“This is the result of the facilities I’ve got here,” he told ESPN. “The nutrition, the physiotherapy, the masseurs, the right pattern of training… abhi training ka results aana baaki hain [the results of the training are yet to come].”

Translation: India, you haven’t seen anything yet. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ† Not Just One Record โ€” Ranchi Witnessed TWO Historic Moments

While Gurindervir was rewriting the 100m record books, Tamil Nadu’s Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi became the first Indian man ever to break the 45-second barrier in the 400m, clocking a stunning 44.98 seconds.

๐Ÿš€ What’s Next for India’s Sprint King?

With spots at both the 2026 Asian Games and Glasgow Commonwealth Games secured, Gurindervir is India’s best shot at a sprint medal on the world stage. He sits just 0.01 seconds behind Asia’s fastest โ€” Japan’s 19-year-old Fukuto Komuro โ€” with months of elite training still ahead.

A soldier’s discipline. A farmer’s resilience. A sprinter’s hunger. India’s sprint revolution has officially begun. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ’จ
